Adavu Basics

Hand Gestures (Hastas)
Asamyukta Hastas - single-hand gestures - their meanings and applications in dance.
Day 4
Expression & Abhinaya
Introduction to Navarasas - the nine emotions - and how to express them with the face and body.
Day 5
Classical Choreography Begins
Learning the first half of the Traditional Bharatanatyam dance - step by step, phrase by phrase.
Day 6
Classical Choreography: Part 2
Completing the classical piece with refinements in posture, arm placement, and floor pattern.
Day 7
Cinematic Semi-Classical
Intro to the cinematic dance - contemporary movement layered with classical grammar.
Day 8
Refinement & Practice
Full run-through of both pieces; individual feedback and corrections from Ms. R. Aswini.

Dress Rehearsal
